Surprise Surprise

Happy Easter to anyone who actually reads this thing. Went to Easter Vigil last night at 7:30pm (two hours long) and Easter Sunday mass today at 10:30am. I feel so holy.

In other news.... My parents, apparently crazy in their old age, have bought a camper and installed a hitch on their Liberty. Pictures below.

An exterior view of the camper.

Josie seems to like it. Jeep is in the background.

24 >= Excellent

Once again, 24 was excellent. Still my favorite show on television and no one can tell me any different.

Managed to wash all of the dishes today. There's nothing in the sink. That makes me happy.

Work tomorrow at 11am, no complaints. Well, except for the fact that I have to stay until 7pm. But, with DST in effect, it'll be nice and light when I leave and therefore much less depressing.

I'm into less depressing.

Random Thought While In the Midst of Washing Dishes

Diet RC is really good. Yes, I've converted to diet soda. I realized in my quest to cut carbs (no, I'm not one of those crazy Atkins people) that regular soda has a lot of sugar. But unfortunately I absolutely hated the taste of Nutrasweet, which all of the major diets use (Coke, Pepsi, etc.). But not good old Royal Crown. They use that new-fangled Splenda, the brand name for sucralose. Splenda is really good and doesn't leave that yucky aftertaste in my mouth. But it does make me pee a lot, a side effect I've learned to deal with. Now I've gotten to the point where regular soda tastes too damn sugary too me and I detest the way my mouth and specifically my teeth feel after drinking it. So, even when a Diet RC isn't readily available, I'll settle for a Diet Coke or Pepsi. Yeah, I still hate Nutrasweet, but it's better than all that sugar.

Just How I Want It

Hmm...it would've been nice if I'd realized that my "Palm Sunday" post was actually on Monday...which means now I have two Monday posts. Not the end of the world.

Have the day off tomorrow. Supposedly my sister and I are going to (shameless plug) Earl's Lock Shop in Lansing to make a copy of our mail key and to make a copy of her car key (I lost the spare).

I have a bedroom now. Well, I've had one for about a week now but the idea is still new and wondrous to me. Here is a picture of my room:

Of course my computer was one of the first things I set up. It's situated in the rear of the living room and looks real nice. Here's a picture of that.

Yeah, I'm all about the pictures. Now I have to be all about the dishes. They're piling up. Pretty soon they'll start showing up on the floor because there's no room in the sink. Ok, it's not really that bad but still...it could be.

Palm Sunday

It's Palm Sunday. Yes, I went to church. Early mass, actually. 8am. Yes, I'm a little bit crazy. But I'm more Catholic than I've ever been, so I guess that's a good thing.

New apartment is coming along nicely. Pretty much have everything where we want it. Now we just have to find more furniture. My sister has a friend whose family was moving so they got rid of a bedroom set which is now in my room. So now I have two dressers and a nightstand, yippee. No really, I'm excited. No more sneaking into my sister's room to get stuff out of her extra dresser. That was always a little strange anyway...

What we really need now is a couch for the living room. Looks kind of bare with just a recliner and some tables. And new beds. Now that I don't really have a need for a futon, I'd really rather not sleep on one, especially since it's never going to be put into its upright position again. Why would I?

Smoked my pipe today and picked up some yummy beer on Friday night. Three Floyds Alpha King pale ale. It's very good and made right here in Munster, IN (ok, ok, about 10 miles away but still...). Happened across it at a Jewel Osco in, appropriately enough, Munster, IN. I'm going to check out Torrence Liquors in Calumet City soon. They supposedly have the best selection of "good beers" in the immediate area. Should be fun.

Phone Returns

Finally got the phone line back. I was beginning to go crazy. Now if I could only get Comcast to finish their "rebuild" so I could get cable interent...

I'd write more but I have to be at work in 30 minutes
