Numero Uno

What happened to November? Well, there's no point in speculating. It's been a good week. U2 is #1 on the album charts and OU is #1 on the football field (not in the BCS standings but at least based on yesterday's game - what a performance!). Also it was my first week in my new position as an Assistant Manager. There was very little drama, actually, and I think everyone is adjusting to my authority pretty well. My dad is still alive (see previous post), taking his medication, and eating three good meals a day. He also is cutting down on his caffeine, which for him is pretty difficult. The man used to live on coffee.

I'm living on coffee right now. Second pot of the day. Not full pots, mind you, but 3/4 pots. Woke up at 7am to go to church. Got back, ate a frozen burrito (heated up of course) and drank coffee. Went to get a hair cut and to pick up a few things at Wal-mart, then back to my computer to type this and drink more coffee. We're going over to my Aunt Barb's for some visiting and dinner. We haven't seen that branch of the family in a while so it should be fun.

I was informed yesterday that my new computer's ship date (come on, you didn't know I ordered a new Dell?) would be delayed. That's ok, I can wait. I've been living with this Pentium II for long enough, I can tough it out a few more weeks. Plus, the computer is being delivered to my parents in Iowa (no sales tax) so I probably won't actually get it until they come in for New Year's. It's nothing too spectacular. Short list of specs: P4 3.2 GHz with 1 GB of RAM and a 250 GB SATA hard drive. I've got dual optical drives - a DVD-ROM and a DVD+/-RW, a 19" flat panel screen, and a wireless keyboard and mouse. Throw in the Radeon X300 (I know, not be best, but good enough), the TV Tuner/Video Capture card, the remote control, and Windows Media Center Edition 2005, and I'll have quite the multi-media machine. I don't play many games, anyway.

Time to get ready to visit the family. More to come as always....
