Politics: Big Night

Because I'm a big huge nerd, the night of the State of the Union address is always a big night for me and not just because it's W making the speech. It could be any president - Democrat or Republican - and I would be just as interested. Because it is not just the president himself that is on display tonight but the institution of the presidency.

As an added bonus, we welcome Sam Alito to the Supreme Court today. All this talk of "20 years of progress" being undone is crap. Some people (Ted Kennedy, anyone?) define progress in strange ways.

Hopefully I'll have more to say after the speech. We'll see if I remember.
